About Us

Mission Statement

Scottsdale Schutzhund Club is committed to the continuing education of the general public of the Working Dog Sport. With current world events and the terrorist threats to our Nation our role in national security is essential.

Our members are the key providers of the service dog and its future. Working dogs keep us safe in their role as a locating tool at our airports, a locating tool for various contraband, and law enforcement protecting our boarders and homes while performing their duties.

We are committed to the working dog breads and its qualities. We encourage and support our members to further themselves and their dog in our sport. Our core principles promote helping one another to achieve individual and collective goals.

Who We Are

The Scottsdale Schutzhund Club would like to take a moment to thank you for visiting. We pride ourselves in presenting our sport with the passion our Trainers and Dogs deserve.

Scottsdale Schutzhund Club was founded in the spring of 2006 by Sal Calabrese, Melissa Lutch, Pablo Portillio & Peter Oja. This group was also the first board. Peter Oja was the first club president, Melissa club secretary, Pablo treasurer & Sal club training Director. On February 24, 2007 the club hosted its affiliation trial. The Southwestern Regional Director at that time, Michelle Kutelis, presided over the trial and the club obtained its full member status.

Today many of our members hold regional and national level awards and we are focused on upholding our sports great traditions. Some of our members also work closely with law enforcment agencies and their K9 units.

Please take a moment to look around our site. Dont hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or comments. We would like to share our passion for Schutzhund with you.
